A bomb covered up in an emergency vehicle killed no less than 40 individuals and injured around 110 at a police checkpoint in the Afghan capital Kabul on Saturday, in a zone close outside international safe havens and government structures, authorities said.

The Taliban asserted obligation regarding the impact, seven days after it guaranteed an assault on the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul in which more than 20 individuals were killed.
