SK Innovation’s New Battery Cell Factory in USA
South Korean Battery Cell manufacturer SK Innovation sign a MOU to invest $1.7 Billion for its first factory for the electric vehicle market in the United States of America. SK Innovation set to spend $1.7 Bn on Georgia New Jackson County Plant with more than 2000 employees may end up for turbo charging . SK Innovation Georgia plant construction will start in 2019.
SK innovation CEO Jun Kim said to media that the company has plan to spend as much as $5 billion and could triple the number of employees at the factory. South Korean battery company plans to supply 9.8 GWH batteries a year from 2022. The SK innovation’s hybrid electric vehicles batteries are primarily sold to Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai-Kia Motors, both of which have assembles plants in Alabama.
