Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt among 819 invited to join film Academy

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released a massive list includes a diverse swath of people from all sectors of the industry, from acting to publicity to costume design. Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan (Super 30 & Jodha Akbar), actress Alia Bhatt (Gully Boy-India’s official entry for 2020 Oscar and Raazi) , Ana De Armas (Knives Out), Brian Tyree Henry (If Beale Street Could Talk), Florence Pugh (Little Women), “Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart).

Directors like Lulu Wang (The Farewell), Ari Aster (Midsommar), Terence Davies (The House of Mirth) and Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake) are also on the Academy list.

The Academy said that 49% of the new invitees , voting privilege in Oscar 2020, are International and represent some 68 countries .

Academy President David Rubin said that the organization is “delighted to welcome these distinguished fellow travelers in the motion picture Art and Sciences”

The New membership goals aim to boost diversity among Oscar nominees . The Academy has now surpassed its membership goals , with 45% of this Years’ intake women, and 36% will be represented by the minorities .

President Rubin said “We have always embraced extraordinary talent that reflects the rich variety of our global film community , and never more so than now”
