Raza Academy urged to stop screening ‘Muhammad: the messenger of God’, Maharashtra asks union to ban the movie
Controversy over Iranian Epic film ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God”
Mumbai : Maharashtra Home Ministry , on Wednesday, has written a letter to Central government to block the screening of the film “Muhammad: The Messenger of God” under 69A of Information Technology Act, 2000. The request has been made after receiving a complaint from Mumbai based Sufi organization Raza Academy.
In a letter to Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister, Anil Deshmukh (Home Minster of Maharashtra) wrote “Maharashtra government has received compliant from Raza Academy to ban the movie “Muhammad the messenger of God. The complaint has made serious allegation that the said movie will severely hurt the sentiments and will be considered blasphemous by a particular community. The movie can potentially disturb the religious sentiments of citizens in the country and many cause religious tensions creating law and order problems in the country”

The Maharashtra Home Ministry also included the YouTube link for the “Muhammad the messenger of God’ trailer, terming it’s as ‘objectionable’ .
The Iranian epic movie on prophet ‘Muhammad the messenger of God’ is scheduled to be released on digital platforms on July 21. The film is directed by Majid Majidi & co-written with Kambuzia Partovi. The movie is set in the 6th century. The story revolves around the childhood of Prophet Muhammad.

The Mumbai based Raza Academy, an organisation of Indian Sufi Muslims, has said that the movie ‘Muhammad the messenger of God’ portrays the holy Prophet as a child and even the Mother and Father of the Prophet Muhammad have been shown in person. The holy prophet of Islam can never be pictured and those who have done it have committed blasphemy which is intolerable at any cost.
Raza Academy also sent a letter to distribute company ‘Don Cinema’ (Image shot given above) with subject “Demand to stop the distribution of the film Muhammad the Messenger of God based on the holy prophet of Islam” where they said “A Muslim will die in honor than to see or hear even the slightest insult on his Holy Prophet”
However, ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God‘ is a 2015 Iranian Islamic epic film. The film is set in the sixth century where the story revolves around the childhood of the Islamic holy Prophet Muhammad. It is the biggest budget production in Iranian Cinema to date.
