Bitcoin price jumps to a Six-week high

The price of Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies surged higher on Monday morning amid speculation that e-commerce giant Amazon could soon accept tokens as payment option.

Bitcoin soared as high as $39,544.29 reaching its highest level since mid-June. It’s up 18% from its 5 p.m ET level Friday, after briefly rising more than 20% earlier Monday morning.

The rally was linked to well founded speculation that Amazon could be poised to enter the cryptocurrency area.

The speculation began after Amazon posted a job advertisement for a ‘digital currency and Blockchain product lead‘ based out of its Seattle headquarter. The job posting, which was first picked up by crypto publication last week, said the role would be based within Amazon’s payment acceptance and Experience team, suggesting the company could be looking to accept cryptocoins in the near future.

However, Bitcoin price is still about 40% below of its high nearly $65000 in mid-April.
