West Bengal: Online UG admission in state-run colleges to begin from July 1

West Bengal implements 4-years UG Programmes in colleges

The West Bengal Government has issued the notification for admission in state-run colleges and Universities for the academic session 2023-2024, with the admission process for Under Graduate courses beginning on July 1 and will be completed by August 31. The first Semester of the UG courses will commence on August 1 under NCCF recommended 4-years UG programmes.

The entire admission process will take place strictly based on the merit of the students and online mode.

The West Bengal Higher Education Department also informed that the entire admission process will be held in online mode in respective colleges and universities and no physical presence of the students will be required during the process of admission. No application fees will be taken from the students and the admission fees will be deposited to bank account of the institutions once the entire process is over.

New Education Policy implements in West Bengal : Key features

The West Bengal Government has introduced four Years Honours course at UG level in all Government and state-aided academic institutions from 2023-2024 academic session.

According to the notification, the key features of New Policy are :

  • Students shall be awarded degrees in accordance with the UGC recommended National Curriculam and Credit Framework for UG level programmes. This will be in place of three-years degree course
  • The centralized online admission will not be in force this academic year and each college will hhave its own online admission system like previous year.
  • Four-years Honours course at the UG level and one year PG course under 4+1 format
