TN SSLC Examination 2020 cancelled
Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami , on Tuesday, cancelled Class 10 board examinations which were schedule to start from June 15. He also said the pending exams for class 11 too have been cancelled. A decision on Class 12 exams for absentees will be taken later.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said “Based on requests from parents ,considering the spread of COVID-19 and in bid to protect the students from the pandemic , the SSLC exams are being cancelled. All students will be declared pass”
For Class 12 , date for pending examinations will be announced later. He added “marks for class 10 students will be awarded based on their performance in the previous exams and their attendance”
Students of classes 10th and 11th to be promoted on the basis of quarterly and half-yearly exam results as well as their attendance; their exams stand cancelled. With the number of novel coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu continued to be on the upswing, the Madras High Court, on Monday, said it would not allow the Tamil Nadu Government to conduct the SSLC exams from June 15 risking the lives of more than 9 lakh students.
The decision was taken after a high level meeting on Tuesday. CM Palaniswami stated that “students would get 80% weightage for half-yearly and quarterly exam marks and 20% weightage for attendance”
On Monday, the Telangana Government announced all pass for Class X students promoting a wide-spread demand for cancelling the exams in Tamil Nadu.
