Indu Malhotra, first lady to be hoisted as a SC judge, sworn in
Indu Malhotra, first lady : Indu Malhotra has now turned into the primary lady to be hoisted to the post of Supreme Court judge from the Bar. The 62-year-old was today directed the vow of office by the Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra. With Indu Malhotra taking pledge, India’s pinnacle court now has two ladies judges.
It is out of the blue that the peak court has two ladies judges – the other being Justice R. Banumathi. Equity Malhotra is the fifth lady judge of the best court.
With her swearing in, the quality of the best court judges rose to 25 – six still shy of the genuine authorized quality of 31.
Equity Fatima Bibi was the main lady judge of the Supreme Court. She was trailed by Justice Ruma Pal, Justice Gyan Sudha Misra and Justice Banumathi.
