IAF Mig-21 Bison crashed due to technical malfunction

New Delhi: A Mig-21 Bison fighter jet of Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Rajasthan’s Suratgarh on Tuesday evening. A technical malfunction is said to have caused the crash. No casualty is reported. Pilot managed to eject safely.

IAF tweeted “During a training sortie in the Western sector, a Mig-21 Bison aircraft experienced a major technical malfunction this evening. The pilot ejected safely at about 2015 hrs. There is no loss of life”

A court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the accident, IAF confirmed in their official tweet.

However, the Indian Air Force has lost 27 aircrafts, including 15 fighter jets and helicopters, in crashes since 2016, Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik had said in Parliament in 2019.
