Amit Shah Calls for Nationwide NRC ; Mamata says NRC will not be implemented in Bengal
Sagardighi, Murshidabad : Union Home Minister and BJP National President Amit Shah on Wednesday said , the National Register of Citizens (NRC) process will be carried out across the country. Amit Shah told the Rajya Sabha that all citizens of India irrespective of religions will figure in the NRC list. There is no provision in the NRC that people belonging to other religions will not be included in the register.
He added , the Centre accepts that refugees belonging Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists , Jains, Christians , and Parsis who left Pakistan , Bangladesh and Afghanistan due to religious atrocities should get Indian Citizenship.
West Bengal Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee said, in an meeting at Sagardighi, Murshidabad, that her TMC government will not allow the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to be implemented in West Bengal soon after Amit Shah’s “Nationwide NRC‘ calls.
