Practice Social Distancing During Lockdown 2.0
New Delhi , ANI : Clerics and community leaders urge people to pray at home during holy month of Ramzan. Cleric Mufti Mukarram Ahmed said “We should stay at home and practice social distancing to keep ourselves and other safe. If we fast and pray at home , there is no problem with it”
Mufti Mukarram Ahmed is an Indian Muslim religious and literary scholar. Ahmed is the Imam and Khateeb of Shahi Masjid Fatehpuri Mosque, India’s second largest mosque.
This year, The holy month of Ramzan is likely to begin from April 24 or April 25 subject to sighting of the crescent moon. Muslims observe fasting for about 30 days during Ramzan and do not eat or drink from dawn to dusk. They eat a pre-dawn meal, sehri, and break their day-long fast with Iftar in the evening.
According to Islam, Ramzan falls on the ninth month of the Islamic lunar Calendar , which marks the commemoration of the first revelation of the holy book Quran to Prophet Mohammaed.
However, with the extension of countrywide lockdown due to Novel Coronavirus Pandemic , several Islamic bodies have appealed to the people to observe fast and offer prayer services , including ‘ Taraweeh’ , from their homes.
