DDC Polls: BJP blooms in the Kashmir Valley, emerged as the single largest party
DDC Election Result: Gupkar Alliance wins maximum seats
Jammu: The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) emerged as the single largest coalition in the first local polls (District Development Council-DDC) in Jammu and Kashmir Union territory. In the DDC polls, Gupkar Alliance surged as single largest coalition in Kashmir Valley while the BJP kept in upper hand in the Jammu region. BJP wins 3 seats in the Kashmir region.
As per the latest trends, the Gupkar Alliance (PAGD) is ahead in 114 seats, the BJP is leading in 72 seats and the Congress is ahead in 26.
In the Jammu province, the BJP is ahead in 69 seats while PAGD is winning 35. In Kashmir, the Gupkar alliance is leading in 79 seats while the BJP is ahead in three.
However, Jammu & Kashmir District Development Council (DDC) election was held in 8 phases between November 28 to December 29 with a voter turn-out of 51.42%. It was the first local body election in the J&K Union territory since its lost its special status. Voting was held in 280 seats- 14 in each of the 20 districts of Jammu & Kashmir.
The DDC Election result 2020 shows that Gupkar alliance and the Congress are likely to win 13 district councils, BJP are set to take 6 districts, while JK Apni Party may win remaining one district.
