Mamata Banerjee rides Electric Scooter to protest against rising fuel prices

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on Thursday, rode a pillion on an electric scooter to Nabanna (State Secretariat) to protest against rising fuel and gas prices. She was seen sitting behind state minister Firhad Hakim, who rode the battery-powered electric scooter.
Mamata Banerjee reached Nabanna on the electric scooter and blamed the Narendra Modi government for putting such excessive pressure on the common man. She said petroleum products have skyrocketed in the past couple of days.
Later, in a Facebook post, she said ” the unbridled price hikes of Petrol, diesel and LPG by the Central Government has plunged the common man into a terrible crisis. As a result of this skyrocketing prices of petroleum products, ordinary people have faced a lot of problems in their daily commute”
“I strongly condemn one anti-people policy after another of the central government. The movement of Trinamool Congress to protest against the rise of prices of petroleum products will intensify in the coming days.” She further said “today, in protest, I rode a battery-powered e-scooter from home to Nabanna, and will take the same approach on the way back.”
She also said “I urge everyone, regardless of party affiliation, to take to the streets”
Meanwhile, the petrol prices in some states have crossed the century mark. Amidst this rise in Petroleum products prices, TMC led West Bengal government has offered a VAT cut of Re. 1 on petrol and diesel and now the state’s Chief Minister offered an alternative mode of transport to people”
