Manipur Community in Assam

Kohima: Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer Ahongbam Bemthoi Chanu, one of the most popular faces of the Manipur Community in Assam, died on Tuesday following kidney and liver failure at a hospital in Nagaland. She was 36 years old.

Chanu, who was posted at the Bokajan Subdivision of the Karbi Anglong district as a Magistrate, reportedly passed away following critical liver illness. According to report, she was admitted to a hospital in Nagaland after complaining a abdomen on Sunday. While the family and doctors contemplated airlifting Ahongbam Bemthoi Chanu to Chennai, she breathed her last.

However, young and dynamic Chanu was one of the most popular bureaucrats in Assam for her honesty and dedication. She cracked the ACS conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) in 2015 and secured the 59 rank.
