Railway will run 100 pairs of non-AC trains from June 1 : RD Bajpai

New Delhi :” Indian Railways will run 100 pairs (200 reyurn journeys) of non-AC trains from June 1. Only online tickets booking will be available for these trains . A schedule of these trains will be releaded soon. ” said by RD Bajpai, Railway executive director .

Passenger train service will expand from the existing 15 trains to more than 200 starting from June 1. The service wil involve no-AC trains, which had not been allowed so far. The 15 trains that have been running since May 12 , are AC special trains and the passengers are required to maintain rules of social distancing and used masks and sanitizers .

According to the railway, the information or brief schedule of these special non-AC trains will be intimated later.

The decision comes days after the centre exteded the nationwide lockdown for a third time but lifted the bar on bus services and public transport. The final decision in terms of inplementation was left to the states.

Before the lockdown, the railways operated around 12000 trains everyday. Since May 1, it ran 366 special trains for migrant workers from different parts of the nation.
