Triggered Panic Across Murshidabad

Berhampore , Source Report : A 75 years old man from Salar Alepur village (Murshidabad district) who was tested Covid-19 positive on 17th April , has died today. According to our source, he was suffering from cancer for long time. On 14th April, the cancer patient old man returned to his native village at Salar . But, on Thursday, due to novel coronavirus like symptoms , his family members transferred him to Kolkata , where he tested Covid-19 positive.

Earlier , Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) of Murshidabad Dr. Prasanta Biswas confirmed the Covid-19 positive news .

Today , the old man died, but, cause of death still unknown. Actually, the West Bengal Government set an expert committee of five doctors who will decide the actual cause of death .

Earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that ” We have formed a committee of five doctors who will decide the actual cause of death. They are the experts, I am not. We do not want to create panic among people. Please trust the doctors. “

A government order issued on April 5, said that doctors signing death certificates must fill out a form which will then be scrutinized by a committee of five doctors; and attach 24 test reports, including for scrub typhus, dengue, malaria, CPK (enzymes in blood to diagnose heart attack) and Procalcitonin (substance in blood produced by bacterial infection). They are also required to attach CT scan reports of the thorax and a liver function test.

On Wednesday, the chief minister announced that Covid-19 cases were restricted to only seven identified pockets in West Bengal. Additionally, it set up a data analysis cell comprising nine members including six doctors, to collect and collate data on a real- time basis, “examine it and detect patterns and undercurrents.”

The Old man from Salar, was suffering from cancer for a long time. So, not to feel panic at moment. Moreover, CMOH , Murshidabad said that “People from that family including the ambulance driver have been brought in our observation and quarantined” . Also Salar Police and Medical team trying to find out who else has come in contact with the family .
