Ahmad Patel passes away following Covid-19 complications
New Delhi : Sonia Gandhi’s closest political adviser and veteran Congress leader Ahmad Patel died at a Gurgaon hospital this morning. He was 71. In a tweet at around 4 am, his son, Faisal Patel said that the Rajya Sabha sitting M.P from Gujarat died at 3:30 a.m.
Faisal said in a statement “With profound grief and sorrow, I regret to announce the sad and ultimately demise of my father Mr. Ahmad Patel at 25/11/2020 , 3:30 a.m after testing positive for Covid-19 around a month back , his health worsened further due to multiple organ failures. May Allah grant him Jannatul firduas, Inshallah ”
Faisal also said “I request all well wishers to adhere to Covid-19 law and order regulations by avoiding any mass gatherings and to also maintain social distancing norms at all times”
President of India Ramnath Kovind tweeted “Distressed to know that veteran Congress leader Ahmad Patel is no more. An astute Parliamentarian, Shri Patel combined the skills of a strategist and the charm of mass leader. His amiability won him friends across party lines. My condolences to his family and friends”
PM Narendra Modi condoled the death of Congress veteran and said “Saddened by the demises of Ahmad Patel Ji. He spent years in public life, serving society. Known for his sharp mind, his role in strengthening the Congress Party would always be remembered. Spoke to his son Faisal and expressed condolences. May Ahmed Bhai’s soul rest in peace”
