Panaji : India Metrological Department (IMD) scaled severe storm cyclone Nisarga live status. It could hit the Goa-Maharastra coast as a severe cyclonic storm on the afternoon of June 3. The IMD said the low pressure system formed in the Arabian Sea has intensified into a deep depression and would become a cyclone within the next few hours. It would continue to gain strength and turn into severe cyclonic storm “Nisarga” late Tuesday evening.
Indian Meterological Department has issued Red alert for North Maharashtra and South Gujarat coasts. IMD said “Depression over east-central Arabian sea intensified into deep depression. To intensify further into a severe Cyclonic Storm and cross Maharastra coast during June 3 afternoon.

The depression over the south-east and adjoining east central Arabian sea and Lakshadweep area, which is likely to intensify into cyclone Nisarga, will largely impact Mumbai, Thane, Palghar , Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg districts and neighbouring areas in Konkan.

The Cyclone Nisarga lays about 240 km WNW of Panjim, 410 km SSW of Mumbai and 620 km SSW Surat. It will intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday night and expected to landfall in coast areas on June 3.

NDRF director general SN Pradhan said to ANI “NDRF is deployed in the both the states , 10 teams are in Maharastra and 11 teams are in Gujarat. However, Gujarat has asked for 5 more teams . So we are getting team airlifted from Punjab”

According to IMD ” heavy to extremely rainfall is predicted on Tuesday and on Wednesday”

Nisarga, which is likely to make landfall on Wednesday as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 90 to 105 kmph gusting to 125 kmph.
