Kerala reports 42464 new Covid-19 cases, 63 fatalities

Kerala registered highest single day spike in infections

Thiruvananthapuram: New Covid-19 cases and deaths in Kerala hit a record daily high with 42,464 new positive cases and 63 fatalities in last 24 hours. Currently, active covid-19 positive cases in the state is 3,90,906, death toll 5,628 and total recoveries 13,89,515.

The Kerala Government, on Thursday, announced a complete lockdown in the state from May 8 morning in view of the severe coronavirus surge in the second wave of the pandemic. The 9-day-lockdown would come into force on May 8 morning and extend up to May 16, according to official source.
