Tamil Nadu: Minister Sellur Raju admitted to hospital after Covid positive report

Chennai : Another breaking blow for Chief Minister Palaniswami’s cabinet. Cooperative Minister of Tamil Nadu Sellur K Raju, on Friday, has tested positive for novel coronavirus. He is the third minister of TN Cabinet, after Higher Education Minister KP Anbalagan and Electricity Minister Thangamani, to contract positive for Covid-19 .
Sellur Raju tested positive for coronavirus a week after his wife had contracted the fatal infection. He has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai. He has become the eleventh lawmaker in Tamil Nadu to test positive for the Wuhan virus of which seven belong to ruling AIADMK and four belong to main opposition party DMK.
Earlier, former minister and senior AIADMK leader B Valarmathi tested positive for coronavirus a few days ago.
Following the development , the TN Government on Friday said that the Chief Secretariat will be closed for next two days during which the premises will be disinfected to avoid the virus spread.
Yesterday, Tamil Nadu reported highest single day spike of coronavirus positive cases. A total 4,231 new positive cases and 65 deaths were registered in the state. The capital city Chennai registered 1216 fresh cases, while Thiruvallur district reported 364 new cases.
