Auraiya truck accident : Modi ‘Very tragic’
Auraiya , PTI : Auraiya truck accident . At least 24 migrant labourers were killed and 36 injured when a trailer rammed into a stationary truck on National Highway 19 . The accident occurred between 3 am and 3:30 a.m on the Auraiya-Kanpur Dehat stretch. Most of those killed were from West bengal and Jharkhand and some from Kushinagar in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
According to Police officials , the stationary vehicle was coming from Delhi and was headed towards Madhya Pradesh , the other was coming from Rajasthan , both ferrying people who were desperate to get back their native homes.
Inspector General Kanpur, Mohit Aggarwal said to PTI that “The accident took place when some labourers travelling on the truck (coming from Delhi) halted on the Auraiya-Kanpur Dehat road to have tea at a local shop. At this point of time, a truck coming from Rajasthan hit the stationary vehicle ”

He also added “Of the 36 injured , 14 have serious injuries and have been admitted to a hospital in Saifai (in Etawah district) while 22 have been hospitalized in Auraiya , about 400 kilometre from national capital and 200 KM from state capital Lucknow”
Auraiya Truck Accident : CM Yogi Announced Ex-gratia
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced Rs.2 lakh compensation to the families of the migrant workers who were killed in the Auraiya trcuk accident and Rs.50000 of those who suffered from major injuries.
The SHOs of Fatepur Sikri (Agra) and Kosi Kalan (Mathura) have been suspended with immediate effect.
