BJP boycotted the assembly alleging violence in the state
Kolkata: Trinamool Congress leader Biman Banerjee on Friday elected as speaker of West Bengal State Assembly for third time. As no name came from BJP or the opposition, his name was passed in the voice vote.
Speaker Biman Bandyopadhyay thanked the people of West Bengal and the members of the state legislative assembly for taking charge for the third time. Speaking the house, he said that all groups of people from all walks of life are represented in this assembly. So it is not advisable to boycott the meeting.
Meanwhile, main opposition party BJP boycotted the assembly alleging violence in the state.
