No FIR launched yet for raising ‘provocative slogan’

Kolkata: All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) on Tuesday organized a ‘protest rally’ in South Kolkata’s Tollygunge-Rashbehari stretch, a day after the BJP held a roadshow under the leadership of Dilip Ghosh and Suvendu Adhikari which witnessed clashes between workers of the two political parties in the Charu Market area.

State Minister Arup Biswas and Sovandeb Chattopadhyay led the ‘peace’ rally that was scheduled from Tollygunge Tram depot to Hazra Crossing.

But, the controversy began following a viral video where few TMC supporters raised slogan of “Bangal ke gaddaron ko goli maaro ….” (shoots the traitors of Bengal), News agency ANI tweeted the video.

Yet, no FIR or arrests reported for such ‘provocative slogan’.

However, earlier on March 2, 2020, three BJP supporters have been arrested for raising ‘provocative slogan’ -‘Desh ke gaddaro ko, goli maaro …. ‘ while heading for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Kolkata.
