NRC and CAB will not be implemented in West Bengal : TMC

Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 (CAB) has cleared both houses of Parliament. Today, upper house of Parliament Rajya Sabha cleared CAB 2019 by 125-105 votes. After the sign of President, CAB will establish in all parts of India and all the minority Migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan , will be eligible for Indian Citizenship after feeling up few conditions.
The CAB 2019 relaxes the provisions for “Citizenship by Naturalism ” .The proposed law reduces duration of residency from existing 11 years to just five years for people belonging Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jains, Parsis, Christian, from mentioned three sovereign states.
Today, on discussion and clarification session , nominated Rajya Sabha member Shri. Swapan Dasgupta asked “Is CAB won’t be implemented in any particular state ?” . In clarification , the Home Minister said “CAB will be implemented nationwide including West Bengal” .
However, West Bengal’s Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said unity in diversity is the ethos of the state and people here are not divided on the basis of caste, creed and religion. She added “The Register of Citizens (NRC) and the new legislation CAB are two sides of a coin” . She assured that NRC and CAB will never be allowed in Bengal as long as TMC is in power.
Today TMC leader Derek O’Brien on his statement to media said ” This government only makes big promises but all their promises fail. Mamata Di has stated clearly that NRC and CAB will not be implemented in West Bengal”
