Sushmita Dev nominated to RS from Bengal

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) nominated former Congress leader Sushmita Dev to the Rajya Sabha to fulfill Mamata Banerjee’s vision ’empower women’. The announcement came on Tuesday when AITC officially shared a tweet read “We are extremely pleased to nominate Sushmita Dev to the Upper House of the Parliament. Mamata Banerjee’s vision to empower women and ensure their maximum participation in politics shall help our society to achieve much more”

The 48-year-old Sushmita Dev, former Lok Sabha member from Silchar (Assam) and former President of All India Mahila-Congress, tweeted “I am overwhelmed. I thank my leader Mamata Banerjee from the bottom of my heart.”

Ms. Dev profusely thanked the West Bengal Chief Minister for the Rajya Sabha nomination and said it sends a strong massage to the entire North-East region of India.

She said “I am a Bengali from Assam who gas gone to Parliament. Mamata Di has created history here. I assured my leader I will work hard. And special mention to Abhishek Banerjee also”

Eye on upcoming Tripura Assembly election and to increase presence in North East politics including Assam; Mamata Banerjee led TMC enroll Sushmita Dev to Rajya Sabha.
