Catamounts won their first America East Championship
Thomas McConvey scored four goals and two assists to lead Vermont to a 15-10 victory over the University of Albany men’s lacrosse team in the America East Championship game this morning in Baltimore.
The Catamounts won their first America East title and denied the Great Danes their 10th. Vermont (9-4) completed a three game sweep of UAIbany (8-5) this season, reported.
Vermont ran off six consecutive goals, including two in five seconds near the end of first half, to seize a 12-7 lead in the third quarter. The Great Danes could manage just one goal in the fourth quarter.
Corey Yunker led UAIbany with six goals and two assists. Senior goalkeeper Will Ramos, getting the surprise start in place of starter Liam Donnelly, made 16 saves.
Vermont’s Tommy Burke held a 23-6 edge in faceoffs against three UAlbany faceoff men. The Catamounts had a 50-31 advantage in shots and 37-20 on groundballs.
