Shashank steps down as ICC Chairman, Next Sourav Ganguly or Colin Graves ?

Dubai : Shashank Manohar on Wednesday stepped down as International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman , one week before the election process for his successor is announced. Deputy Chairman, Imran Khawaja , from Hong Kong , will be the interim ICC head . Now, the time for calculation , who is next ICC Chairman ? Who will replace Manohar ? Sourav Ganguly or Colin Graves ?

Howver, Shashank Manohar became the first independent chairman of the ICC upon his appointment in 2016 and has gone on the head the world’s governing body for two terms.

The new chairman is likely to be a candidate backed by the World richest cricket board BCCI . Equations in World Cricket suggest BCCI Chairman Sourav Ganguly in contention to replace Manohar. Former England and Wales Board Chairman Colin Graves also a leading contender.

ICC chief executive Manu Sawhney said “On behalf of the ICC Board and staff and the whole cricket family, I would like to thank Shashank for his leadership and everything he has done for the sport as ICC Chairman . We wish his and his family all the very best for the future”

Meanwhile, the process for the election of the next ICC Chairman is expected to be approved by the ICC board within the next week.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and former ECB President Colin Graves may contest for the next ICC chairmanship contest.

Whoever, the successor of Manohar Shashank , will face a major task ahead, copying with the financial and structural impact of Covid-19 , which has left a huge hole in finances across the glove as well as causing issues around the already pressurized futures ICC Cricket programmes.
