A California police officer was in critical but stable condition in a trauma center on Friday night after being shot outside police headquarters, authorities said.The shooting happened around 7 p.m.

A suspect is in custody after a man was fatally stabbed Wednesday outside of an apartment building where he was working as a janitor in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood, officials said.
