Fallout 76 Coming
Bethesda has announced the latest game in the Fallout series and fans have been left with a lot of questions. Fallout 76 Coming..
A teaser for Fallout 76 was release on Wednesday in a short trailer and very little information has been shared by the publisher so far. More information is set to be revealed at E3 in June but Fallout fans are already desperate to know more. Here is what we know so far and when you could expect the game to be available. Fallout 76 Coming..
What is Fallout 76?
Bethesda released the trailer on Wednesday to the surprise of many in the gaming world, but they didn’t specify exactly what to expect from Fallout 76. The only clues we have so far are based on what is in the trailer, but Kotaku journalist Jason Schreier and other insiders have described it as ‘an online survival RPG that’s heavily inspired by games like DayZ and Rust’. Fans can find out more about the new game during Bethesda’s E3 Showcase which will take place at the event in Los Angeles. The publisher is scheduled to have its E3 Conference on Sunday 10 June at 6:30pm PT, which can be watched live on any of their social media platforms or directly from their website.
When is the release date? There was no sign of a release date in the Fallout 76 trailer and no mention of one from Bethesda. Most of Bethesda’s recent games have been released in the same year that they’ve been announced, including 2015’s Fallout 4, so it’s very likely going to have an autumn launch. There is no guarantee of that, but Bethesda should announce more information, including a release date, at their pre-E3 conference on 10 June.
Fallout 76 Coming: Fallout 76 is an ‘online survival RPG’ – an interstate highway claim insiders
The new Fallout game is not an MMO but allegedly a mixture of Rust and DayZ, that may also include vehicles and base-building. Bethesda announced a brand new Fallout game yesterday. The only problem is they didn’t say what it is. It’s pretty obviously not Fallout 5 but whether it’s a spin-off that’s still more or less the same concept, like New Vegas, or something completely different isn’t clear. But Kotaku journalist Jason Schreier seems to have the inside track on the game, and has described it as ‘an online survival RPG that’s heavily inspired by games like DayZ and Rust’. This seems to be the consensus amongst other insiders, with another American journo claiming that the game has a heavy focus on Fallout 4 style base-building.
Apparently the game was originally a prototype for a multiplayer version of Fallout 4, but evolved into something else over time. According to Schreier it will still have quests and a story, but also base-building ‘and other survival-based and multiplayer mechanics’. The game’s name comes from Vault 76, which has been mentioned in both Fallout 3 and 4. Instead of being focused on weird social experiments it is a ‘control vault’ where everyone is turfed out as soon as nuclear war is over – hence the unusually early date seen in the trailer and the need for so much base-building.
Posters on Reddit also claim that the game is set along an interstate highway which is, in part, what the ‘76’ in the title stands for. We also like the suggestion from a reader in this morning’s Inbox that this is probably going to be the first Bethesda Fallout game with vehicles, although whether that – or indeed any of these other rumours – is true we won’t know for certain until the game is properly revealed at Bethesda’s pre-E3 show on Sunday, June 10.
