A woman has died this afternoon following an incident at New Zealand’s Waihi Beach in Western Bay of Plenty. It is understood the woman was dragged from the water alive and paramedics administered CPR on the beach to no avail, reported.
Western Bay of Plenty Katikati-Waihi beach ward councilor Anne Henry believes the incident took place at the Bowentown-end of the beach.
However, the initial indications suggest the woman may have been injured by a fatal Shark.
The victim was believed to have had bite wounds to at least one of her legs. It’s understood she was pulled from the water alive, but despite attempts to shave her, she said.
The death will be referred to the Coroner, police said.
