Victoria : Premier Daniel Andrews imposes lockdown in 10 postcodes amid COVID spikes

Melbourne : Premier Daniel Andrews , on Tuesday, imposed geographical lockdown in 10 postcodes of Victoria due to recent coronavirus outbreak spikes . Daniel says a stay at home order will be imposed on several Melbourne suburbs experiencing spikes in Covid-19 cases from 11:59 pm tomorrow.

Out of 71 fresh coronavirus positive cases in Australia, Victoria reported 6; remaining 5 in New South wales & 2 in Western Australia.

Due to the recent surge in Covid-19 cases, the Premier Andrews imposed lockdown order for 10 postcodes areas , i.e, 3012, 3021, 3032, 3038, 3042, 3046, 3047, 3055, 3060, 3064 from 11:529 pm (local time) tomorrow until July 24.

Residents living in the postcodes have been forced into stage three restrictions, which mean they must not leave home unless it is for the four reasons permitted.

Premier Andrews said “You should not going into those postcodes over the next four weeks unless it’s for work and only for work that you have to do in person”

He added “You should not be going into those postcodes unless it was for instance to get care or to give case”

He said ” any one in these postcodes who was found outside their home without a reason would receive an on-the-spot-fine”

However, a total of 800 federal support staffs from the PM office will soon be on their way to Victoria to help with the state’s covid-19 crisis.
