Beirut Blast : Lebanon in Crisis
Beirut, Lebanon : Lebanon’s Prime Minister Hassan Diab, on Monday, said that he and the Lebanese government will resign following the deadly explosions in Beirut that killed more than 200 innocents. Diab is the second Lebanese PM to resign in less than a year time, following Saad Hariri who left in January.
In a brief television speech after four of his ministers resigned , Prime Minister Hassan Diab said that he is talking a ‘step back’ so he can stand with the people and ‘fight the battle for change alongside them’
“I declared today the resignation of this government. May god protect Lebanon’ , he added.

The move risks opening the way to dragged out negotiations over a new cabinet amid urgent calls for reform. It follows a weekend of anti government protests in wake of the August 4 explosion in Beirut’s port that decimated the facility and caused widespread destruction, killing more than 200 people.
