WHO called Latin America the new epicenter of Covid Pandemic
The President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández confirmed his positive diagnosis for Covid-19 . He revealed that he and his wife Ana Gracia de Hernández tested positive for novel coronavirus . Just hours later he was hospitalized after doctors determined he had pneumonia.
According to Honduras health agency spokesperson, “during a news conference that Hernández was reviving intravenous medicine that had to be administrated at the military hospital and is in good condition. The President wife Ana Gracia de Hernández has not shown symptoms of the disease and two presidential aides also tested positive for the coronavirus”
On a live massage Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernández said “I feel strong and energetic enough to keep going and beat this pandemic. We continue in the fight , and we trust in God that we are going to get ahead of this situation. I personally trust God , Honduran doctors and the medicine that we’re using to combat this disease”
He added that with the responsibility of his job it was impossible to stay home constantly and was therefore more at risk becoming infected.
Meanwhile, there are more almost 10,000 confirmed COVID positive cases with 330 deaths in Honduras . The northern business hub of San Pedro Sula still accounts for the majority of the cases, while the capital Tegucigalpa , is the focus of new infection.
However, the World Health Organization (WHO) considers Latin America the new epicenter of the coroanvirus pandemic ,with more than 1.5 million cases of Covid-19 and more than 70,000 deaths from the disease.
