Wellington : New Zealand has announced it no longer has any patients in hospital being treated for novel coronavirus. It comes on sixth straight day where no new Covid-19 positive cases have been reported in the Rugby playing nation.
The last Covid patient was discharged in Auckland yesterday in the latest mark of victory of New Zealand’s internationally praised response to the pandemic.
New Zealand reported its first coronavirus positive case on February 26, and had shut its borders by March 19 and started implementing a complete lockdown on March 26.
The Oceania country has conducted a total of 2,67,435 Covid tests and contact tracers are operating to monitor the remaining cases through the NZ COVID tracer App ( Mobile application)
In last April, Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern said that the nation had ‘won’ the fight against widespread community transmission of the Wuhan virus.
Now, the country is almost covid free. In last 6 days there has no covid positive cases reported . Already, the governemt partially lifted the lockdown and plans to resume travel to Australia.
