New York City (NYC) : Mayor Bill De Blasio and Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza, on Wednesday, announced that New York City (NYC) students will return to schools in the fall with a “blended learning” model in September on a staggered schedule of two-and three-day week.
Mayor said “Blended learning simply means at some points in the week you’re learning in person in the class room, at other points in the week you’re learning remotely. For the vast majority of kids in the vast majority of schools, you’ll be going to school to the classroom either two days a week or three days a week depending on the week”
Carranza said “For the 2020-2021 school year, it’ll look different. Students will return in September in a blended learning model or an online learning model , if they choose”
Families who are not comfortable sending their children back to school may continue with remote learning that includes Online classes rather physical presence. They have the chance to opt back in on quarterly basis.
Students will receive their schedules in August, and they can opt out of blended learning at any time.
